Call out for Cairns-based artists

November 14 – November 24

Are you interested in writing, directing, dramaturgy, design, devising dance, movement and accessible theatre? Want to be part of an Artist in Residence project at the Centre of Contemporary Arts (CoCA) in Cairns?

Expressions of interest are now being sought from Cairns-based creatives to join the Inflight Trilogy creative process for two weeks in November 2016.

Inflight Trilogy is the latest instalment of Dance Integrated Australia’s evolving solo series project, ITS ALL ABOUT ME, which is curated and produced by Creative Director Philip Channells in collaboration with artists from diverse artistic backgrounds and life experiences.

This is an exciting creative opportunity to work with:

  • James Brown (music composition, sound design, photography, 2d animation, motion graphics illustration)
  • Sean Campbell (fashion, design, music, history and British popular culture)
  • Philip Channells (performance, direction, choreography, community engagement)
  • Samuel James (projection, compositing, theatre production design, dance film).

The seeding of ideas for this new work was initiated across a 5-day DAIR research period held at the Australian College of Physical Education in Western Sydney in December 2015. ITS ALL ABOUT ME draws from being exposed to the human immunodeficiency virus and navigates deeply personal territory through the use of text, movement, installation, sound and digital media. Still in its infancy stage of development, the creative investigations have only just begun to take flavour and we are curious to see where the next research period takes us.

This project is co-presented by Ausdance Qld, New Move Network and Centre of Contemporary Arts Cairns.

Applications close Friday 28 October 2016
