with Jacqui Carroll, Shane Weatherby and Anthony Shearsmith
This intensive 4-day summer school is offering open classical ballet classes across all age groups – from 8 years to 80+ years. Classes will provide a unique insight into the wonderful world of open ballet classes and also demonstrate the wonderful physical and mental benefits of dancing at any age.
Classes will be taught by different teachers throughout the summer school, so that the dancers can experience the wonderful variety of skills and techniques offered by each teacher. The intermediate, advanced and open ballet classes will have two teachers in the classroom to allow for attention to individual personal detail and attention to the varying needs of each student within the class.
All three tutors have had extensive careers as dance professionals. Choreographer/teacher Jacqui Carroll (creator of Carmina Burana, Scheherazade, Firebird, Stabat Mater…WA Ballet and Queensland Ballet, Canzona….Australian Ballet, etc.) Anthony Shearsmith (Tadzio/Death in Venice, Mercutio/Romeo and Juliet, etc.) and Shane Weatherby (Puck/Midsummer Night’s Dream, Orpheus, etc.)
As an extra, an exclusive training class Jacqui Carroll’s Specialist Dance Training sessions will focus specifically on developing the dancer’s sensitivity and artistry and is expressly for advanced students, tertiary dance students and professionals wishing to broaden their range of presentation skills.
The Sayers Dance Centre is an ideal location with air conditioned studios, specific tarkett dance flooring and well appointed change rooms.
