Gavin Webber is co-Artistic Director of The Farm, based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. For over twenty five years Gavin has had a successful career both as a performer and as a dance-theatre maker splitting his time between Australia and Europe. As Artistic Director of Dancenorth he took the company from regional Australia to national and international touring. Over the past decade The Farm’s work has been seen across four continents including The Barbican in London and Venice Biennale, receiving six Greenroom awards in 2009.
In 2013 The Farm relocated to the Gold Coast. Their more recent works include Cut Away, Cockfight and The Last Blast. Cockfight and The Last Blast have recently been nominated for three Helpmann awards. Their newest works in the making are a live action video gaming piece based around themes of immigration, called Quarantine, and Frank Enstein, a magical realist work about self-acceptance for children and adults.
In short, he’s old and he has moved around a lot. Most people in the world don’t know who he is, and he made a show called Cut Away that never got nominated for anything.
