"An awesome event for dance teachers - a space to share, learn and connect with like-minded educators."

Safedance for kids

Safedance for Kids made extraordinary strides in 2025. Following a successful first-round pilot, we opened EOIs for our second round of testing, which allowed us to explore the program across different regions of Queensland, with a diverse range of practitioners including small studios, large studios, and school-based educators, and to test a purchase pathway for multiple users.

For this phase, the program received a full-service website built on the Sensei LMS WordPress plugin. The feedback gathered was significant: it exposed gaps in our purchase pathway, particularly around our ability to prioritise member access, and directly shaped the direction of the program. As a result, we moved away from tiered pricing based on membership and studio size in favour of a flat rate, integrated with our main site membership plugin MemberPress (which has LMS capabilities built in), and returned the program to the Ausdance QLD website to reduce the operational load on our small team and minimise expenditure.

26 users were added to the platform for this second round, with 42% of participants coming from regional areas.

We also received our long-anticipated branding in 2025, following months of development in 2024. The Safedance for Kids brand builds on the existing Ausdance QLD identity, striking a balance between a formal, government-friendly aesthetic and an approachable look and feel for kids and families. This direction was informed by the success of Ready Set Dance and a recognition of the need for a flexible brand identity.

Our partnerships with content contributors Yomconnect, the Alannah and Madeline Foundation, Pryce Centre for Culture and Arts, and That Learning Joint continued to progress into 2026 and were critical in reaching our launch milestone.

“I have been attending this conference for many years now and it just keeps getting better and better. If you wish to meet other like minded individuals who have a passion for dance education, this is the conference for you.”

"It was my first year at the conference and I loved it!

From the moment I entered the beautiful QB building I was greeted by friendly delegates who all tried to get to know me by having lovely conversations.

The welcome to Country was really special, the talk with Leanne Benjamin was interesting, the workshops were fantastic. All presenters and staff were outstanding. I even won a lucky door prize of a Bloch drink bottle that I have not stopped using.

I’ll be back!"

“Absolutely loved attending and being part of the conference. The sessions I found were very relevant to what we are facing when teaching dance in schools. Definitely got me thinking about taking the leap and creating a connection with our local First Nations tribe and creating a community with them.”
QDEC23 PARTICIPANT
“The QDEC23 highlighted the importance of First Nations Australians in Dance and provided accessible and engaging presenters to deliver workshops and present information. The conference was relevant, contemporary and energising for all participants. Well done!”

"It was great to meet people from other schools in the area and be able to chat with the Ausdance people from Brisbane. The practical component was fantastic and would love to see more practical work in the future just to stimulate new ideas. Hearing from the QCAA was very helpful too. It was wonderful that this experience could come to Cairns. Please come again."
