Tyrel Dulvarie

 

Bio

Tyrel Dulvarie is from Kimuy, he is a descendant of the Yirrganydji, Djirrabul, Kalkadoon and Umpila peoples.


He trained at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts in 2011-2013.
In 2015, he spent the year part of Sydney Dance Company’s Pre-Professional Program, before touring with Hugh Jackman's Broadway to Oz musical production.

Tyrel joined Bangarra Dance Theatre in 2016 where he toured nationally & abroad the productions: OUR land people stories, Bennelong, Terrain, Dark Emu, 30 Years of Sixty Five Thousand, Ochres, Spirit: a retrospective and Ibis.
In 2019 he received the Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer for his standout performance in 30 Years of Sixty Five Thousand.

In 2021, Tyrel relocated to Meanjin, where he then joined the Australasian Dance Collective. Making his debut in "Succession", the collective’s joint production with the Youth Ensemble.
He then premiered the Collective's triple bill production "Three", performing works by Melanie Lane, Jack Lister and Hofesh Shechter. Later that year Tyrel had the privilege of performing Forgery, an artificially intelligent designed work created by Alisdair Macindoe & Josh Mu.
In July 2022, the Australasian Dance Collective returned with a new triple bill production of "Three 2.0", where he performed new dance works by Cass Mortimer-Eipper, Kate Harman, and Gabrielle Nankivell.

In mid-July 2022 Tyrel decided to venture out as a freelance artist and dive into new mediums of the arts.
Currently, Tyrel is apart of a new Indigenous-Australian theatre work "Tracker" by Australian Dance Theatre and Ilbijerri Theatre Company. Tracker is to perform at all major art festivals in Australia this year.

Tyrel has a strong love and value for culture, representation, diversity, fashion, and the arts.

Workshop Description

Tyrel will lead a contemporary dance class with a focus on safe dance practices, technique, as well as movement exploration. Throughout the class we will build on skills in order to move efficiently, creatively & dynamically.
