Seeking Content Contributors - Safedance™ for Kids

The Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare and Ausdance QLD invite you to submit an Expressions of Interest (EOI) to write evidence-informed content for Ausdance QLD’s new Safedance™ for Kids program.

 Safedance™ for Kids is a transformative, new, high-impact child safety education program to be delivered in dance studios/communities over six engaging modules to 8–10-year-olds. This groundbreaking initiative is grounded in First Nations Cultural safety and teaches child safety to children, addressing physical, nutritional, social, mental health, and online safety.

As the peak body for dance in the state, Ausdance QLD is committed to nurturing safer spaces, safer workplaces, safer children and safer bodies and minds, safeguarding young bodies and minds.  Ensuring children learn dance in safe environments means they may choose to enjoy dance throughout their lives.

EOI: Content

You’re invited to contribute evidence-informed content for the following modules:

  • Moving Safely

  • Healthy Bodies

  • Emotional and Social Safety

  •  Digital and Performing Safety

Content inclusions:

  • Complete educational (children) and training (teachers) content for modules in your area of expertise.

  • Additional resources and guidance materials to improve dance safety education for children in dance activities.

  • A 45-minute lesson plan and supporting resources to teach 4 modules to children aged 8-10 years old.

Ausdance QLD encourages Expressions of Interest from:

  • First Nations individuals and groups, and First Nations owned and operated businesses, recognised or endorsed by Traditional Custodians and Caretakers of the Lands upon which Ausdance QLD operates

  • individuals and/or groups representing diverse cultures and/or populations

Contributor Fees

  • $2500 core content (Includes teacher training guide and teacher delivery resources).

  • Negotiated fee for partial elements of a module (approx. $100 p/h)

  • $250 parents’/caregivers’ information sheet (optional)

  • $250 children’s learning materials (optional)

Intellectual Property

As commissioned work (although not necessarily new research) the intellectual property will remain with Ausdance Qld. The contributor/ writer will be permitted to use the work elsewhere for other purposes. The writer will be appropriately credited for the work and reciprocally Ausdance QLD must be credited if the work is used in other contexts outside the Safedance™ for Kids program.


How to submit your Expression of Interest

  1. Read through all content and appendices of the information document below.

  2. Submit your CV/biography and ‘abstract’ or summary proposal with cover email for content to safedance@ausdanceqld.org.au by 14th December 2023. Attach any relevant research or publications if appropriate.

    - Your cover email should include your name, contact details and brief description of the modules or content you’re addressing
