Peter Maddock

Director of Assistance, Queensland Small Business Commissioner’s office

Peter is the Director of the Assistance team at the Queensland Small Business Commissioner’s office and established the office in early 2020. Previously, Peter was Manager of Regional Projects for the Department of Employment Small Business and Training and has worked at a state and Federal level including on the National Industry Skills Fund for SME’s. Peter is passionate about reducing red tape for small business and implementing changes that make a practical difference.

 
 

 

Jodie Terzis

Jodie is a Small Business Financial Counsellor based in the Gold Coast. She supports South East Queensland businesses in the Gold Coast, Brisbane and surrounding areas.

Born and raised in Adelaide, Jodie relocated to the Gold Coast 20 years ago, where she now enjoys the coastal lifestyle with her husband Paul.

With 15 years’ experience in the finance industry, predominantly relating to small businesses and the hospitality industry, she enjoys offering independent, impartial support to those who need it most.

With experience running her own small businesses, she knows the challenges this entails together with the rewards/lifestyle it can bring and has even written a book for people who want to open their own hospitality business.

She looks forward to using her experience in helping local Gold Coast businesses make important decisions for the growth and development of their businesses.

Jodie works with a team of Financial Counsellors located throughout Southern Queensland.

Sharon Kingston

Sharon is a Small Business Financial Counsellor based in Yeppoon. She supports Central Queensland businesses in Livingstone, Rockhampton, Banana, Gladstone and Central Highlands areas.

Sharon joined the team as a Small Business Financial Counsellor in June 2020 when Queensland was first feeling the impacts of COVID-19 and set about assisting businesses in her region to find a path through the pandemic.

Growing up in Injune, raising a family, running a business, taking on treasurer roles in community groups, and assisting other businesses complete financials and lodgements, it was an obvious transition for Sharon to get into accounting when her family relocated to Yeppoon.

“Working for a local accountant in the area for 13 years, the urge to help and assist businesses with issues and complexities and more importantly the people who run these businesses was satisfied when obtaining the role of Financial Counsellor,” she said.

She is passionate about her role, and enjoys empowering and enabling the people she works with.

Sharon works with a team of Financial Counsellors located throughout Southern Queensland.

 

 

Dr. Melissa Belle Isle

Co-Director, Griffith Tax Clinic

Dr Melissa Belle Isle is a lecturer in taxation law and is a member of Law Futures Centre. Melissa has an interest in enhancing tax and cash flow literacy of Australian individuals and small business owners, to assist them to make informed decisions in terms of their tax and financial circumstances. Melissa regularly delivers learning opportunities to community groups to assist in increasing tax literacy through her role as co-director of the Griffith Tax Clinic. The Griffith Tax Clinic provides a free tax advisory service to unrepresented taxpayers and allows Griffith students to further their skills to be work ready once completing their studies.

 
 

 

Catherine Giuliano

Director, OneMusic Australia

Catherine Giuliano B. Comms (UWS) is the Director of OneMusic Australia.

Catherine leads a team of 52 across sales, finance and customer service across six State offices in Australia, achieving one of the highest rates in the world of licensing businesses for public performance. Catherine’s team look after the licensing needs of more than 100,000 Australian venues playing music from OneMusic’ repertoire.

She has spent decades in the arts and culture industries, both here and in the UK. 

Catherine is determined to unite the needs of the music creators she represents and the entrepreneurs running their business in Australia. 

Over her career, Catherine estimates she has chatted to over 10,000 business owners and managers about the value of music in their operation.
