Judith Wright Arts Centre - Gallery EOI

Arts Queensland is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from small to medium arts organisations to manage and activate the Judith Wright Arts Centre (JWAC) Gallery commencing from 1 February 2021 for a period of 12 months (with option to extend for a further 12-month period).

JWAC focuses on supporting the small to medium arts and cultural sector in Queensland through provision of accessible office accommodation and spaces for creative development and presentation. The centre houses ten arts and cultural tenants, and two commercial tenants and features a 300-seat performance space, multipurpose and rehearsal spaces, meeting rooms and art galleries.

In 2019, the Queensland Government undertook refurbishment of the centre’s frontage and foyers to increase the centre’s capacity to meet its aims.  The work, completed in June 2020, created a new gallery space, café, foyers, and tenancy spaces at the front of the building.

The Opportunity

  • manage and activate the Judith Wright Arts Centre Gallery space rent-free for 12 months (with option to extend for a further 12-month period)

  • Up to $100,000 programming budget to support Queensland artists

The gallery space at JWAC is a well-appointed and prominent gallery space with direct access to Brunswick Street. There is alternative access through JWAC’s main foyer. This EOI is for small to medium arts organisations who wish to manage and activate the JWAC gallery. Gallery specifications are detailed in the EOI document.

Arts Queensland is offering the JWAC Gallery with the tenancy to be rent in-kind to 1 February 2022.
