 FAQ

Before the event

Ticket Registration

  • Who do I contact if I have additional accessibility needs? You can submit this in the “Additional Comments” section of your ticket registration or email us directly at producer@ausdanceqld.org.au.

Session Registration

  • Once you’ve logged into Swapcard, you will see the sessions that are available with your chosen ticket. If you’d like to reserve your place in a specific workshop on the “Timetable” page, please select the “Bookmark” icon on the right-hand side of the session listing. In Brisbane, there is limited space for any sessions that take place in a studio.

  • Are there waitlists available if I am unable to book into my preferred workshop? There are no waitlists due to occupancy requirements outlined by the venue.

On the day

Parking

  • There is limited underground parking available using the Parkable app. Day rates are $15, but spaces are not guaranteed. We recommend utilising public transport or parking at the Montague Markets complex across the road. Street parking is limited.

Check-in

  • What is the process if I arrive late to check in?
Head to the Welcome Desk at the Thomas Dixon Centre and the team will page us to welcome you to the venue.

What do I need to bring?

  • What should I bring? Notebooks, pens, reusable drinking vessels and any additional snacks you might need. We recommend packing light where possible.

  • I don’t want to leave my luggage in the car. Where can I put this? Our conference team can take this from you at check-in and store this in the Ausdance QLD office suite. This is located across from the bathrooms in the TDC and can be accessed by the Ausdance QLD team.

Accessibility

  • Do I have to participate in practical/interactive workshop? How you engage with this content is entirely up to you! Please speak to your host when entering this session to ensure your needs are met.

Photography & Recording

  • Can I record and/or take photos of the workshops to collect information about the content of the session? At the start of each session, your host will announce the guidelines for participating in the workshop. Some presenters may not feel comfortable with their content being filmed/shared. We ask that all attendees respect this.

Catering & Food

  • QDEC24 is catered throughout, but we ask that you please bring a reusable water bottle/insulated vessel (and additional snacks if required).

  • Dietary requirements will be requested in the registration process. If you do not see your requirements listed in the dropdown, please select “Other” and write your dietary needs in the “Additional Comments” section.

  • Breakfast catering will consist of pastries and fruit platters. Morning and Afternoon tea breaks will be more substantial with sandwiches, charcuterie platters and more.

  • At the Thomas Dixon Centre, there is a small shopping complex across the road with Woolworths and a cafe located inside the venue, across from the Talbot Theatre.

Networking

  • Our networking events for QDEC24 will take place over breakfast. These events will be focused on ice-breaker activities on Friday and Saturday.

  • Our conference app, Swapcard, has the functionality to connect with Speakers, Exhibitors, Attendees and our Conference Team throughout the event.

Terms and Conditions

Post-conference

  • Can I get a certificate for the professional development hours? Yes! This will be prepared and sent to you after the conclusion of the event.

  • Will there be recordings or resources for workshops I can’t attend due to participant limits? Some workshops will be recorded and issued as post-conference resources.

 Regional & Remote Bursary

The Regional and Remote Dance Educators Bursary was created in 2020 by Ausdance Educators QLD (AEQ) to recognise and alleviate the challenges that dance educators from regional and remote communities in Queensland experience in attending professional development in-person. In 2024, the bursary will provide one practising dance educator (or the institution providing financial support for the professional development activity) with reimbursement of their costs (including registration, travel and accommodation) to attend the Queensland Dance Educators Conference 2024 (QDEC24) in Brisbane up to the value of $1000.

Osmotherly Dance Educator Award

The Osmotherly Dance Educator Award was created to recognize the outstanding contribution of dance educators whose work has clearly earned them a state, national or international reputation throughout Queensland.

The winner of the 2024 award will be announced at the Queensland Dance Education conference on May 11 2024.
